Writing
The Price of Stories
A brief story of a fictional world where the value of innocence is high indeed.
Fun Fair
I wrote this one in my head on a long bus journey, and transcribed it when I got home.
The Third Estate
Not sure where this one came from...
Broken Gears
A roleplaying game of animistic Steampunk I co-wrote and edited.
Star Tales
A humerous interpretation of how George Lucas might have come up with the idea for Star Wars. Unfinished.
Broken Gears
Broken Gears is a roleplaying game written in the summer of 2005 by 15 or so members of CURS. However, after the initial effort (the concept, rules and much of the writing was done in a single 24 hour period) it languished somewhat until I decided to finish it off, fleshing out those portions that hadn't been finished or weren't large enough, writing material to fill any gaps, and editing the whole thing for consistency.
Since we didn't have any artists, I illustrated the game with photos that were either in the public domain, or which were available under generous terms of service that allowed their editing and use without direct attribution (MorgueFile is excellent for that). Since the final product was designed to be usable when printed out, I either converted the photographs to greyscale or colourised them to look fine when printed in black and white.
I put the pdfs together in Adobe Pagemaker, producing both an A4 format and a US legal format, to cope with the annoying fact that the US uses a different size of paper to the rest of the world. Since its release in early 2006, it's been relatively popular, with more than 1,000 downloads by the end of the year.
