Regular Reading
BBC News - My main source of information concerning what's going on in the wide world.
Make Blog - A constant source of awesome hacks, constructions and ideas.
Slashdot - The definitive source for geek news of every stripe.
The Register - While at times I dislike its tone, it's an excellent source of UK-oriented high-tech news, and the BOFH's always good for a laugh.
The Onion - One of the net's oldest satirical sites, and still one of the best
Wikipedia - For all the (valid) concerns about accuracy, this is still my first stop for whatever obscure topic I feel the urge to look up, and rarely disappoints.
The Straight Dope - A regular column that finds the real answers to those obscure questions that have always niggled at you. There's a hefty archive that's great to browse, too.
Sites of note
Project Gutenberg - A volunteer-run site that makes more than 20,000 public domain works available for download. Check out the works of Saki if you aren't familiar with him.
RPG.net - The definitive RPG-related site, with an active wiki and forums, and an index of (almost) every RPG produced.
The Wooden Mirror - Probably my favorite piece of artwork, ever. Unfortunately his new page has far fewer details than his old one, though there are still some images and a video.
The Visual Elements - Commissioned by the RSC, this is a visually stunning rendition of the periodic table. Copper remains my favorite.
Webcomics
xkcd - A wonderfully random and often very smart stick-figure webcomic.
8-Bit Theatre - Despite never having really played the Final Fantasy games, I still find this one hilarious.
1/0 - Now completed, this 1000-strip series quickly overcomes initially crude art to evolve into a compelling (and inexplicable) comic of existentialism and fart jokes.
Schlock Mercenary - Boasting an impressive update regularity, this comic combines humour with a solid space-opera plot.
Sluggy Freelance - Though I stopped reading it some time ago thanks to a shift away from humour towards melodrama and long-winded plotlines, the archives of this classic webcomic are still some of the funniest things around.
Order of the Stick - An unashamed D&D comic, this webcomic nevertheless uses simple artwork and genre in-jokes to produce one of the funniest strips on the web.
Gone with the Blastwave - despite only updating once in a blue moon, beautiful art and a wonderfully black, nihilistic humour make this one well worth reading.
